Halfmoon Sea Kayaks

Hakai Beach - sunshine coast kayaking adventures

The original inspiration of the Sunshine Coast’s rich culture, music and art came from the beautiful coast line it continues to thrive upon. Most of it is only accessible by boat and even more so in a kayak. Halfmoon Sea Kayaks have been renting kayaks, providing instruction, and guiding multi-day tours all over the Sunshine Coast, Northern Gulf Islands and the isolated Central Coast since 1998. If you want fresh air, beautiful scenery, abundant wildlife and a non intrusive way to enjoy it, Kayaking has to be the Sunshine Coast’s best suggestion.

Originally operating from the government dock in Halfmoon Bay with three rental kayaks, Shannon and Cam have continued to develop the services they provide to visitors and the local communities. At 5644 Cowrie Street you’ll find a new outdoor gear and kayak touring store. As a compliment to the rental fleet and guide services, we offer all kinds of outdoor gear, camping supplies and kayaks, along with tour planning and local information. Our rental fleet has grown to include a wide assortment of high end fiberglass sea kayaks and accessories. We offer the best equipment from the best location on the Coast. In 2005 Rock Water Secret Cove invited Halfmoon Sea Kayaks to operate from their beautiful beach location just north of Secret Cove. Spa services, restaurant, bar, showers and much more are available at this world class gateway to three marine parks, including, Simson, Jedediah, and Smuggler’s Cove.

Kayaking from a beautiful beach, secret cove

Rockwater Secret Cove Resort, Halfmoon Sea Kayaks

If you’ve never been in a kayak, we offer introductory lessons (approx. 3-4hrs) from our protected cove.  Advanced rescue, bracing, and rolling clinics are also available as pool sessions and at sea. It’s all loads of fun and suitable for all ages. After an intro lesson you’ll certainly have the confidence to start exploring.

The sandy warm beaches of Thormanby Island are the perfect distance, just off shore, for a day trip with a gourmet picnic lunch in the sun. Our evening tours are also very popular, leaving from Rock Water at approximately 7pm into the setting sun, glassy waters, and warm summer breeze. These guided tours are especially popular when returning under the light of a full moon. All Multi-day tours are custom arranged for every group, please call us for details any time.

To find us from the ferry landing in Langdale continue along Hwy 101 for approximately 25 minutes through to Sechelt and visit Shannon at our store. If you’re in a big hurry to get out on the water and into the best paddling area on the coast, then drive right through Sechelt and continue on to see Cam at Rock Water Secret Cove, north of Halfmoon Bay. We wish you a great summer and fulfilling visit to the Sunshine Coast. See you out there.

Shannon and Cameron Reid.
