Brook's Nook
Exceptional getaway for couples, families and small groups

Our new, two level waterfront home has spectacular, south-facing ocean views from nearly every room, as well as the three decks, and is furnished with tapestries and artifacts from our travels around the world. Most of the furniture has been custom built from British Colombia wood. A gas fireplace adds to the warmth and comfort of the living space. Put up your feet and relax while you enjoy the ocean view from your spot on the couch. The ocean view from both levels is second to none. On a clear, sunny day you can see all the way across to Vancouver Island! While we are located only two hours from Vancouver, including a short ferry ride across idyllic Howe Sound, it seems a world away from the busy pace of the city.

Winter on the Sunshine Coast
Winter is a magical time of year in Pender Harbour. The weather, on average, is sunnier and milder than Vancouver. A morning fog often hangs over Lee Bay, with the sun burning it away by mid-morning, leaving everything fresh for a short hike to nearby Daniel Point. Even if it is raining, you can curl up on the couch in front of the fire while you enjoy a good book, storm watch as the weather rolls in across Georgia Strait or watch the fishing boats head out to sea. If you need a change of pace in the evening, you can always head down to Garden Bay Pub for a pint to take in a Canucks’ game.
Brook’s Nook
Our home is split into two levels in an open-concept layout perfect for families or small groups, accommodating up to eight people in four bedrooms. The master bedroom includes an ensuite bathroom with soaker tub and private balcony. You can watch the sun coming up from the deluxe queen size bed in this room!
The second bedroom on the main floor has two single beds (bunks) and is ideal for children. There are games, art supplies and a TV/VCR mounted on the wall, including a selection of age appropriate videos. The kitchen is modern and is furnished with a full range of stainless steel appliances. You will find everything you need to prepare meals for yourself comfortably during your stay. Basic condiments and spices are even provided. An additional bathroom is located on the main floor, including a shower.

The lower level also has an extremely comfortable living space, including a large couch, TV and DVD, an additional kitchen and dining area, all with a spectacular ocean view. This can be useful for larger groups, allowing for a quiet breakfast without disturbing other guests. Two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two singles, along with a full bathroom, are found on this floor.
If you just can’t survive without your email, there is a desk on each floor where internet dial-up can be accessed (with your own laptop). All the main TV channels are available including CBC, TSN, Sportsnet and the main US channels.
The property
We have cleared a basic trail down to the ocean where you can swim (in summer), explore the tide pools, walk along the waterfront or just enjoy the sun and a good book. Or you can just sit on one of our three decks, enjoying your morning coffee while you survey the local wildlife, including deer, eagles and even the occasional whale.

Activities
Hiking trails abound in the area. Both Daniel Point (down to the ocean) and Pender Hill (up to see the view) trails are within five minutes walking distance from our front door. In addition, the Skookumchuck Narrows in Egmont is a beautiful hike and the ebb and flow of the tide rushing through the narrow opening is quite a sight! The bakery at the trailhead is definitely worth a visit (open May long weekend to Labour Day).
Kayaking, scuba diving, cycling, horseback riding, fishing and boating are other popular pastimes in the area, as well as golfing at the nearby 9-hole course (open year round!). There are also a series of freshwater lakes in the area that are great for swimming and kayaking. All of these activities are winter-friendly, with the exception of swimming (of course)! However, if you insist on getting into the water in the winter, the scuba diving in nearby Sechelt Inlet is world famous, including a sunken Navy frigate, and winter offers the clearest waters.

Pender Harbour
Often referred to as the ‘Venice of the North’, Pender Harbour is a small community known more for its hidden bays and tiny islands, coves, lakes and reefs. We are located about a 20 minute drive from the town centre of Madeira Park which offers all the basic amenities, including a full-service supermarket, bank and pharmacy.
A variety of restaurants and cafes are only a short drive away. Particularly recommended is the West Coast Wilderness Lodge, offering world class food and a breathtaking view up Princess Louisa Inlet. If you are looking for good food at a reasonable price and a friendly atmosphere, then the Garden Bay Pub is only five minutes away. If you in the mood for Italian fare, then you can’t beat Ruby Lake Resort. Ruby Lake also houses a spa offering massage and other treatments.
Upon arrival in our home, you will find a detailed guide book waiting for you to acquaint you with Pender Harbour and the surrounding area.
